Where have all the Good Rennies gone?

Monday, March 19, 2007, 03:17 PM CST [General]

Home from another weekend at Excal. Wasn't sure what we would find once we got there since the storms of last week. Lots of mud so good thing Richard has 4-wheel drive. Word of caution...don't be a dumb ass and drive thru heavy mud if you are in a 2 wheel drive vehicle. I mean some people have no freaking common sense. Even going thru some of the mud we did to get back to our spot ( almost on back side of property line) made me cringe and then to watch a car try and do it.....geez! If someone gives you advice about cautioning you not to camp in a certain spot because we have been there and we have seen what happens when it rains, you may want to listen to us. Maybe then a backhoe wouldn't have to get your ass out and in the process make the rest of the area a huge mud pit because you didn't heed the warning. BTW this is not directed at anyone camping at Patrons side!

Richard is turning 33 this weekend. His Birthday is this Sunday and we will be celebrating on Sat night at our camp. I am looking forward to spending time with friends.

    Next on my agenda:

I just want to know the answer to this, "Where have all the good
    rennies gone?"

It has gotten to where Richard and I would rather hang out around our
fire pit at Participants camp than hang out at Patrons.

Good Rennies are a dying breed. That is if we continue to
bring in young, immature, unappreciative dumb fucks! Sorry for the
language. I just know that things are not like they use to be. That makes me very sad since it has only been a few short years since I was embraced by my rennie family. I will never forget the day I met Selena and she took me under wing and we walked the
ENTIRE TRF faire just so she could introduce me to soooooo many
people. Not to mention my first time camping at TRF and once again
that experience was with Selena. Back then people watched out for
each other so much so that I was not allowed to go to drum circle
unescorted. I don't know if that was done for me since I was a
newbie or what but it is something that has always stuck in my mind.
Respect......do we remember that word? I don't think these newbies
understand the word. I don't even think they speak our language. Use
to be newbies looked up and respected those elders of Chaos and other
groups. Now.....please they just disrespect you, say screw you can continue to do dumb, stupid things. Have we stopped to really look at this growing problem because trust me it is a problem and I am not the only one seeing it. Do we want to lose being able to camp and have a good time because kids these days have no respect. I think it is time to step up and say no more! Where are these kids coming from? WHO is bringing in these kids? Is it one particular person or a group?

I think the groups have lost their way when they started letting just
anyone join. Why? so you can boost that you are the largest group.
Who cares about numbers when I think it should be quality vs quantity. I know we are all getting older but stop and look at the group that will be our future representatives. Is this what we want? I will start right here and now and tell you my opinion- HELL NO!

Ok will get off my soap box next.....so bring it on as I know this will cause some kinda of backlash....but you know what, I don't give a damn anymore. What? Will this get me kick out of a group or something? At this point does it sound like I care? And you know what, there is only one group that matters to me and that is my group of friends.

Just wondering if anyone else was feeling or seeing what I was...

    Making Molds & Casting Metals

Tuesday, March 6, 2007, 06:12 PM CST [General]

Richard and I have taken on a new venture. We are learning to make silicone molds and to cast metal. Let me just say it is not an easy venture and we can understand why things like the spikes and claws that are used in Leather Armor are so costly. First off the material needed to make the molds is not cheap at all. Takes getting just the right kind with the right length of workable time. Anyway it is a learning venture and if we can get it figured out it could prove to be a profitable hobby. The picture above is a sample of one of our earlier attempts at reproducing one of the spikes on Richard's armor.

Also getting things together for this weekend...looking forward to opening weekend of Excal.

In the time of the year when cold is upon us and the sun draws nigh
You've given the warmth of friendship so this dragon can continue to fly

With heart and compassion you've alway come thru
I count myself blessed to have friends such as you

When I seek miracles I find that they abound
I find them in the very best people in the whole world around

So with heart-felt appreciation I offer my wishes for a Merry Christmas to you
And throughout the year may may God's blessings be bestowed upon you.
